I am a mixed media artist based in Omaha, NE. Raised in a family of artists and creatives, I have always been interested in artistic endeavors. I grew up drawing any chance I could get but was also interested in ballet, art history and floral design. I earned a BFA in Studio Art from Colorado State University with an emphasis in Painting and a minor in Art History.
My work is greatly influenced by my creative family, especially by my grandmother who painted until age 90. Art was a lifeline for the family during difficult times. I am interested in the connections we make and the healing that occurs when we immerse ourselves in creation. I am currently painting landscapes of places that mean something to me and I enjoy painting places that are special to others. In addition to painting and doing the occasional wedding flowers, I enjoy gardening and reading with my husband and two children.
Process and Statement
My process includes drawing and painting with mixed media including watercolors, gauche, oil, acrylic, pencil and pastels. I use pencil, pastel and watercolor most frequently to capture landscapes from photos and from life. I enjoy using composition, color, value and texture to capture the emotion in an environment. I believe the beauty and goodness that surrounds us can be healing and is meant to be remembered and treasured.
Overall, my creative ambition is to be a student of art, to be a supporter and advocate of the arts because of my love and appreciation of creation.
